A special message to all involved in the Scott Trial 2008
This year at the presentation I was not given the opportunity to thank all the various people who muck in and help to make the Scott Trial possible. Hopefully, courtesy of the Darlington & Stockton Times and Trial Magazine I would like to thank personally all the volunteers that come from far and wide that have nothing to do with Richmond Motor Club, but are obviously Scott Trial fanatics, observers, petrol check teams, results team, marshals and the list goes on, thank you. The Landowners, the Tennant Farmers, the Estates, and the Gamekeepers, who year after year give us the permissions essential to stage the event, thank you. The motorcycle press who attend the event and give us such excellent coverage, (especially Barry Robinson and Mike Rapley (Trial Magazine) who stayed to attend the presentation) thank you. The Scott committee who year after year put in endless hours planning and preparing for the Scott (next meeting Nov 6th), thank you. John Moffatt, who stood in at late notice to chair the Auction, thank you. To the competitors and all the spectators who turned up in not what you would call the best weather conditions. Finally a special thank you must go to Fuji and Dougie, whose intervention at the end of the auction helped us raise a record amount, especially as Dougie’s day ended so early. On a different note this year’s Scott has been described as one of the toughest, I have now had time to analyse the results section by section and rider by rider and it would seem that it was no harder than any other year; the Scott is just a tough event in any year.
