Becky Cook Report
The final round of the 2010 Women’s European Championship was held last weekend in Tanvald, Czech Republic.
Becky Cook on her MRS BVM Sherco was one of the last riders to set off on to the tricky slippery course which was not ideal as the sections would deteriorate through out the day with the mud getting on the rocks. Becky had the best possible start to a trial she has had all year, actually keeping her feet up and ‘cleaning’ the whole of the first lap which only Laia Sanz could match but unfortunately some observers seemed very harsh as Becky was given a five for touching a marker and a one after hitting her elbow on a tree as she rode across a group of rocks.
Never the less she didn’t let the questionable observing bother her and carried on to the next lap with a positive frame of mind, she took three marks on the hard section two which consisted of a large stair case of which some rocks were grippy and some slippery with a lot of mud on them! This was the best score on that section for anyone on the second lap. She had a few more odd dabs on the remaining sections to complete the lap on eight.
With a score of fourteen, Becky had to settle for third place behind Laia Sanz on five and Joanne Coles on nine. Although Becky was disappointed with the end result she was happy with her riding. She will stay in Czech Republic this week with her minder Craig and practice until the next paddock opens on Thursday morning where Becky will prepare for the second world round.
